Survivor: Philippines Season 25

Survivor: Philippines Recap and Review

Credit to CBS

Yes, the title is correct. Survivor is in its 25th season. The show typically airs for two seasons every year.  (insert bored expression here)

Wednesday September 19th marked the season premiere of the show. This year they brought back three old players in what I consider a "coaches/redemption" twist that is common among CBS reality shows right now. Instead of having two tribes, there are three. One returning player for each tribe. I guess that's only fair. Jeff Probst who has been the host of the show on all 25 seasons announced the twist aboard a boat where then each tribe had to load all the supplies they could onto a tiny wooden raft and make way to their respective camp. Although everyone made it to their camp, it did not come without injury or nearly drowning a chicken. Funnily (or not) enough the veterans returning to the game are known for injuries of their own.

Michael Skupin from Survivor: Australian Outback, was removed from the game due to serious burns on his hands after falling into a fire pit. He was placed on the Yellow tribe known as "Tandang." Jonathan Penner is also no stranger to the game, he was originally cast on Survivor: Cook Islands in 2006 where he finished 7th place. He came back for Survivor: Micronesia in 2008 but was removed from the game due to a life-threatening infection. He was placed on the Red tribe known as "Kalabaw." Last but not least, Russell Swan. Russell was removed from Survivor: Samoa after he fainted during a challenge. He was so dehydrated that his heart rate dropped and they had no choice but to evacuate him. He was placed on the Blue tribe known as "Matsing."

As we all know, the first episode is basically a montage of people forming alliances and strong players butting heads to see who will become the "leader" of the tribe. There were a few colorful personalities that stuck out like a sore thumb for me. The first one was Dana. The first thing she said during her interview was that she used to get into fights with boys in the trailer park. Honestly, the producers must really want her to look like the token lesbian. She is on the red tribe. After I heard her southern accent and saw her blonde hair I immediately thought she was related to Zane from the blue tribe. No, no, no. Zane.. You are not suppose to go to every person on the tribe and make an alliance the first day, then go tell people that you made an alliance with everyone the first day. Seriously!? While the two may look and sound alike, they are definitely not alike. LOL  Fortunately the blue team lost their first challenge and had to go to tribal counsel where Zane was the first player voted off of Survivor: Philippines. There really isn't much else to recap about it because aside from the challenge and everyone meeting/greeting, not much else happened. Actually I take that back. They showed several "accidents" that Skupin had during his first day at camp. I'm sure he'll have to be removed later because all his wounds will become infected. He cut himself twice and even scratched his head. Oh joy!

Now on to rumors and such...
Over the weekend Abi-Maria Gomes was seen at the Big Brother 14 finale party in LA sporting a knee brace. She says she was injured during the show but couldn't give any details. She did say her ACL was torn and she did have surgury. I'm guessing that we'll see her removed from the show at some point unless of course she made it to the final 3 some how and could still win?  Abi was of significance to me. I felt she stood out among the others. Her accent did for sure. She is originally from Brazil but she is now a dual citizen of the USA and Brazil. She is blonde and beautiful of course! Her positive attitude and social skills may take her a long way. Hopefully her injury wasn't too bad during the show, i'd hate if she had to be removed but we'll see.

I personally give the premiere a 6 out of 10 on the review scale. I'm sorry.. it isn't that the show isn't "good" anymore, it's just on too often. Big Brother is on for three months during the summer and the prize is half that of Survivor. It is also only on once a year which is a huge advantage for CBS because by the time it actually airs, fans are salivating at the thought of it. I wish they would put Survivor and The Amazing Race on a "once a year" schedule as well. Big Brother is the summer guilty pleasure, Survivor in the fall, and maybe The Amazing Race could be a winter series. Yeah, like that would ever happen? One good thing I can say for Survivor though is that it brings in great ratings for CBS and viewed on a high definition television, looks remarkable with all the vibrant colors from each island or jungle they happen to be in that season. I wish certain aspects of the "every other season" shows would turn up on my favorite show, Big Brother. BB has no HD cameras in the house and is basically the same old crap reused and re-purposed every season. Anyways... the show airs every Wednesday at 8/7c on CBS so check it out. Everyone loves a reality tv show.

Is Farrah Abraham getting her own Teen Mom spin-off show?

Several sources (thehollywoodgossip.com) are reporting that Farrah Abraham may be getting close to having her own spin-off show. The Teen Mom star says the show will be "about her and her life." If you don't remember Farrah she is the girl whose "baby daddy" died tragically in a car accident. Farrah's daughter Sophia is a cute little girl who has more personality than even her Mom it seems like. The only thing you really see on the show is Farrah treating her parents badly and claiming that they ruined her life, or are pissing her off in some way. I get it but geez, give it a rest sometimes.

Through all of that though, she was a popular character on the show so maybe her show would be popular with girls who already watch MTV's 16 and Pregnant/Teen Mom/Teen Mom 2. She has quite an extensive fan base following the release of two songs: "On My Own" and "Finally Getting Up From Rock Bottom" in connection with her first book, "My Teenage Dream Ended."

She recently stated in an interview with In Touch that she hadn't had sex in two years. She explains the risks involved in getting into another sexual relationship and how she wants to get things right the second time around. Whether she truly hasn't had sex in two years is irrelevant. The fact that she wants to set an example for other girls her age and younger is what's really important. I commend her on that.

Here is a photo of Farrah and Sophia when she was first seen on MTV's 16 and Pregnant in 2009 courtesy of Starcasm.net:

Cannot connect to iTunes..

Update:  Ha! I tried the year change like I had been doing this whole time today and it finally worked. If you are looking for a fix you can give it a try. Click settings--go to General--Date and Time-- Turn off automatic then change the year to 2013-- back--back-- close. Go to passbook, then try clicking app store. It should work but if not you can try again tomorrow or keep trying it? If it works or even if it doesn't go back in and fix the time back to automatic. You'll also need to go into messages and TURN ON iMessage again since it automatically turns it off. If it did work you still need to fix the time and iMessage.

Like millions of others I ran, dove, and jumped around with my iPhone on Wednesday when the new Apple iOS 6 was released at 1pm/12c time. We were promised a better operating system; newer, faster, better looking. My first action when the update was complete was to click on the "passbook" icon lurking on my home screen. Yes! A place to store my rewards cards, boarding passes, and even movie tickets. I pressed "App Store" only to receive this error message, "Cannot connect to iTunes Store."

Wait..what? You mean I've been waiting for this new OS like a champ for all these months and now I can't play with the new toys? This is wrong! Apple wanted us to drool over these "new" features and then take them away on the drop of a dime. Well played Apple, well played. Now, give us a fucking fix! I've tried the changing of the date/year but it doesn't work. I can't take it anymore! Please comment below if you have any other tricks that may work.

Honey Boo Boo's Dad isn't going to lose his leg!

You better redneckonize!

Sugar Bear isn't going to lose his leg!

The rumor around the circuit was that June's baby daddy, Sugar Bear (Father of Alana, aka Honey Boo Boo) was going to have to have his leg amputated due to an infection following a mud boggin' accident. For everyone who lives North of the Mason Dixon line, that means ATV/4 wheeling in the mud. He is expected to make a full recovery according to June in an interview with TMZ. (You can view that article here)

If you are asking yourself who the hell Honey Boo Boo is then you are really behind. The show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" airs on TLC, Wednesday nights at 10/9c. It is quite possibly the most controversial show happening right now. The family which consists of:  Honey Boo Boo (Alana,) June (Mama,) Sugar Bear/Mike (Alana's dad,) Pumpkin (Lauryn,) Chubs (Jessica,) and Chickadee (Anna) is a documentary style show where the family just lives their everyday life sneezing, snotting, farting, and food fighting into the camera on a daily basis.

Here is a photo of the family from People Magazine in August.. (click here for the full article)

Basically without being too harsh, the show follows this family who is less than classy, but in their own "good people" kind of way. Personally I love the show. I watch it every week. It is hilarious to see how redneck, hillbilly, and somewhat trashy they all are BUT they don't try to be anyone they aren't. They fully admit to being crazy in their own way and they sure aren't trying to please anyone. Watching will sure make you feel a lot better about your own dysfunctional family though, that is a fact.

Alana was first seen on the TLC show, Toddlers & Tiaras. She does pageants. Watching this child do pageants is sport in itself. She has the table manners and social skills of..well I don't know what to compare it to but it's funny. June actually is an "Extreme Couponer" as well so that the family can save money for Alana's pageants. If none of that was the icing on the cake, 17 year old Anna, is pregnant on the show with a child named Kaitlyn. I believe Kaitlyn is now a couple months old. So...there you have it. We have now covered MTV's 16 and Pregnant as well as Teen Mom all in one fancy blog post.

Anyways, that is all there is to say about the show right now. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading.

Big Brother 14 Spoilers and Review

Big Brother 14 has come and gone and there are now only 3 houseguests left; Dan, Ian, and Danielle. While it has been a summer of fun, I can just as easily say that it has been a summer of horrific pain for most viewers. Watching this season and listening to all of the lies that Danielle Murphree has told is quite disgusting. She doesn't even own up to these lies in the Diary Room which makes me inclined to think she actually believes them herself. Although I could easily make this entire post about how much I hate her and how she makes me physically ill, I will go on and talk more about the show as a whole.

I've been a Big Brother fan since Big Brother 2000 aired 12 years ago so excuse me if I really get into it. Frank was my favorite houseguest this season other than Mike Boogie. I'm a huge fan of actual gameplay; manipulation and winning competitions are the two easiest ways to win me over. I have never liked people who sit in a corner all season and never speak but still make it to the end.

Dan... He deserves to be where he is in the final 3. He has manipulated an entire group of people into taking others out and even themselves. His prodigy, Danielle has been the biggest victim of his brain washing and manipulation but in the same breath, she is the easiest target. It goes to show that you don't have to win everything to make it to the end. Dan is neck and neck with Dr. Will Kirby (BB 2 and All Stars) for master minding the eviction of everyone during a season. Will never won a challenge but Dan has an HOH and POV under his belt this season. Close race.

Ian... Well Ian is a great kid. He is extremely intelligent but he lacks social skills. While I was not happy that he jumped ship on his original team, he did it with good intention and had to look out for himself. While Ian has been a victim to Dan's evil manipulation he is head-strong and knows what is going on to a certain extent. He has not thrown a competition for Dan unlike others. He made it this far and I hope to see him in the final 2 with Dan because he worked hard for it and played a great game. I have read a lot of people's articles saying that he is stupid for taking Dan if he wins part 3 of the HOH but I disagree. He has a certain level of integrity that he refuses to lose which I like about him. Morals usually mean nothing in the game for most people though. It sucks to give away 500k dollars just because you made a promise which is what I think Ian is doing, unfortunately.

Danielle... There is nothing good to say about her at this time. As much as I try to write this with fact and no personal disdain for the girl, it isn't possible because there is literally nothing to say about her in a positive aspect. Danielle has let Dan manipulate her the entire game when she had every reason not to. She never went with her gut instinct and did only what he said. The fact of the matter is that she could be going to the final 2 and winning it if she would have evicted him and/or actually stayed mad at him like she wanted to. Her fake showmance with Shane is what first made me dislike her. At that time it was just a personal dislike for her character on the show until I realized that she actually believed what was clearly not real. I watched on the feeds time and time again when Shane told her to stop touching him, and that he didn't want to continue getting close with her in a "romantic" fashion because it would affect his game. Not all the blame can go to Danielle though because obviously Shane let Danielle get closer and closer to him until he was basically forced to go with it. Sick.. sad.. gross. Danielle in a game play aspect is a bit different. She did win things and she almost played a good game sometimes. When she went ahead and put Janelle up though it wasn't all because she wanted to, it was because Dan decided to let her. Danielle accused almost every house guest this season of attacking her which was never the case. I guess she wanted people to feel sorry for her but she never went into the Diary Room and owned up to any of the lies. She actually believed they were true. There is a list a few pages long with lies Danielle has told. Most of them have to do with her parents, family, and herself getting hurt or having illnesses. Danielle even went as far as to say that she had radiation treatments before the show on a "non-cancerous" lump in her breast. Unfortunately Danielle, doctors don't do radiation/chemo therapy on non-cancerous lumps in the breast except in rare instances especially on women who have breast implants. When a woman undergoes radiation they most likely than not, have their implants removed because radiation destroys the shape and consistency of them. Some people compare this lie to Season 12 Matt Hoffman who lied about his wife having an illness. Matt made that lie up for gameplay and even told everyone in the Diary Room about it. America knew it wasn't true. There is no comparison. She is ignorant. It is just that simple. She hasn't earned a spot in the final 2, and if she makes it there hopefully she won't win. No one should win if they play someone else's game and that is exactly what she did.

That is all I have to say about the final 3 Big Brother 14 houseguests. We will soon find out who the winner will be. Survivor is starting soon so I will probably have a few blogs coming about it. Til next time =)

Teen Mom 2

Teen Mom 2 is a reality show that follows teens from the MTV series "16 and Pregnant" after they have had their child. Right now the show features several teens, one who is a troubled teen named Janelle who no longer has custody of her son, Jace.

Several news reports have come out over the last year claiming that Janelle Evans has been arrested for beating the crap out someone, harassing an ex-roommate, and most recently violating a domestic abuse protection order. During the latest episode of Teen Mom 2 Janelle and her on/off boyfriend Kieffer were suppose to go to court to face charges of breaking and entering and possession of marijuana. Both of them had recently used marijuana and were afraid to fail a drug test so they were relieved to find that the court had been closed that day and rescheduled. She's a real winner folks. When Janelle isn't harassing someone or chasing after her dead beat boyfriends she is failing in school or NOT taking care of her son. Janelle signed over custody of Jace to her mother Barbara. Her mom takes care of Jace and has been since he was born.

Leah and Corey are newlywed teens who have twin daughters, Ali and Aleeah. On the most recent episode of Teen Mom 2, parents Leah and Corey found out that their daughter Ali does not have the serious disability that they thought which relieved them. Ali still does have to wear glasses and will have to attend physical therapy sessions to try and help over come some of her physical abnormalities and learn to walk. Since this season of Teen Mom 2 aired news reports came out saying that Leah and Corey are already divorced. According to Leah's twitter she is dating someone else, was engaged to that man on Christmas, and is pregnant with another child. She denied some reports that she was having twins again but did not deny the fact that she is pregnant. I guess Leah is unaware that birth control exists and fails to use other forms of protection. I guess there is nothing like having three children before the age of twenty. Next..

Kailyn is a teen mom featured on Teen Mom 2 with a son named Isaac who just turned one in recent episodes of the show. Her ex-boyfriend Jo is her son's father but they broke up and she is dating a nice guy named Jordan. Kail seems to have the least amount of drama on the show compared to some others but has different issues to work through since Jo is active in Isaac's life, and her bad family life. She recently moved out of her Mom's house but didn't even tell her Mom until she was fully moved because she was afraid to be kicked out before her apartment was ready. Her mother made her return a TV that Kail took from her own bedroom. Wow? What a bitch! I feel bad for Kail having to deal with that. On the most recent episode Kail decided to file for child support but Jo did not seem thrilled. He thinks that Kail should pay for everything on her own when she has Isaac. In recent news reports media is claiming that Kailyn and Jordan broke up and that she wants Jo back. Her website does not confirm nor deny that rumor. She just posted new pictures of Isaac's 2nd birthday one of which was with Jo. Also being reported is a mugshot of Jo who was apparently arrested for being under the influence of marijuana and Kail filing for full custody. Who knows!

Chelsea is a teen mom featured on Teen Mom 2 with her daughter Aubree and on/off boyfriend Adam. She is a good mom who stays out of teen drama except that of which happens when Adam is around. In the most recent episode of the show Chelsea moved out of her house and into a two-bedroom condo. Her boyfriend Adam (who is only a boyfriend half of the time) came over and did not bother to help move anything into the house but instead he left her there alone. Adam is basically a douche bag who deserves to be kicked in the balls. Even though everyone tells her to keep him out of her life, Chelsea continues to go head over heels for him when he comes around. Pathetic. The only news I have read about Chelsea is that her friend Megan (who revealed in the last episode that she was pregnant) gave birth to a little boy in July. All the best.. I guess seeing her friend become a teen parent wasn't enough to stop her from making the same mistake.
